GoPro & Snowboarding
2 weeks ago I was boarding in the sunny French Alps with a group of lovely people. I borrowed my colleagues GoPro for the week and forked out for a pole and mount for it. Here, are some edits!
Keithception
A short video made for no reason whatsoever. Taken in Mallorca, Spain last summer when I was on holiday with some friends. I’d love to do more video editing, I find it rather fun.
Early Birding
Two weeks ago I moved into a house-share closer to Manchester. Since then, I’ve had to commute to work (I’m about a 20 minute drive away). Because of this, I’ve been taking advantage of TT’s ‘flexi-time’ work hour system by starting work at 7am everyday (yeah, sounds fairly horrendous) and finishing at 4pm. The main reason for doing this is to avoid the shit-storm of traffic a typical morning between 8 – 9am brings. So far, so good, I can wake up at 6:30 and be at work within 20 minutes.
You’re probably wondering (if you’re still reading this far, that is) why I’m expressing this on my blog. Well, as well as loss of traffic in the morning – I’ve noticed a few other benefits working these hours brings. First off, I find I have a lot more time to do things once I get home from work. Like, animate some more, and… cook! Secondly I’m not hitting the tiredness wall at work so often and feeling a lot more productive getting work done in the mornings.
I feel a lot better for it, but it’s still going to take some self discipline to keep it up. I’ve also found getting up early starts to get a lot easier once your internal digits align. Early bird catches the worm and all that, right? True dat.
Doing to improve.
I’ve been working as a games animator at TT Fusion for over 6 months now. I can safely say it’s been a comfortably excellent opportunity for me to break into both the games industry and the world of animation. I’ve already learned so much invaluable experience from my talented animation department, and it just keeps on coming! Being part of such a large development team, I’ve been experiencing the importance of communication, leadership and positive relationships between colleagues.
We have a performance review coming up which has led me to writing this post. I’ve been reflecting on the specific things I have been doing and what I want to be doing now and in the future. Like any other animator, I wish to further improve my understanding and work-flow to a much more professional degree - and continue to ‘push my limits’ so to speak. Animating full-time has made me a bit lazier than usual, and as you can probably tell I haven’t done any animation outside of work in a long while. This has led me to an idea to set myself some excersies to get me going.
I discovered a 11 Second Club post here with a list of short character excersies. The plan is to work through these over the next few months - giving myself 1 to 2 weeks per anim. Update: This hasn't happened.
I’ll be posting a bit more text-rich things on this blog too, so keep an eye out!
AnyForty Tee Shoot
Last week I went and helped out AnyForty’s new Versus 4 release by getting shot in this delicious looking tee by Drew Millward. What a poser.
